Milo Creek Flood Control Project

Milo Creek flows through the cities of Wardner and Kellogg to where it joins the South Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River. In 1996 an exceptionally large snow pack coupled with warm spring temperatures resulted in major flooding in both communities. Over fifty remediated residential properties and nearly five miles of public rights of way were compromised. Flooding occurred again in 1997. Because remediated property was being adversely affected, it was decided to proceed with a much needed flood control project. The cost to construct the project was nearly sixteen million dollars and was shared amongst numerous state and federal agencies.
